A Day Out At The Fair…
Well what a weekend we have just had! It was our first time to exhibit at The North West Wedding Fair at Event City in Manchester, and we had a ball. If you’re a future bride and groom and you haven’t checked this fair out yet, it’s well worth a visit when they’re next coming this way in March. Anything you could possibly need to help you organise for your big day is all under one roof; from wedding dresses, to venues, to food, and not forgetting music!
Myself, Ben and Jack arrived at the venue around 6pm on the Fri evening in order to set up for the following morning. There weren’t any members of the public in at that stage, but the excitment was already starting to build as exhibitors concentrated on making their individual patches look pretty.
We arrived at around 9am the next morning in order to put the finishing touches to our stand and to start playing from 10am.
We decided to start our performances off with our Claddagh Ceili Band, who played superbly. The Claddagh Ceili Band is made up of four musicians plus a caller to help guide people through the dances. Having a ceili is a perfect way of getting EVERYONE up dancing at your wedding, from the young, to the old and the shy to the bold. It may have been an early start but that didn’t stop The Claddagh Ceili Band from having our future bride and grooms smiling and tapping their feet.
At lunch, it was time for the quartet to take their places and to showcase their beautiful sounds which they did exceptionally well. They caught the attention of both members of the public, as well as fellow exhibitors, who seemed to love them too.
The quartet were playing classical pieces, such as Pachelbel’s Canon and Wagner’s Bridal March, right through to pop pieces, such as Sweet Child Of Mine, by Guns N’ Roses, and If I Were A Boy, by Beyonce. The quartet are equally at home playing both classical and pop pieces, and if they don’t already have your special song in their current repertoire, they can arrange it for your special day.
The following day saw us start with the quartet and finish up with a nice, lively set from the Claddagh Ceili Band once again.
During our time at the wedding fair, we talked to some of the other exhibitors who also had some lovely services to offer for your wedding. Some of the exhibitors that we spoke to included representatives from The Abbey House Hotel, in Barrow-In-Furness, Ribble Valley Wedding Heaven, Big Chief Tipis and Nicola Boydon’s, Easy Wedding Planning company.
All in all we had a fantastic time and we are looking forward to returning to the wedding fair again in the future.
